Jason Wiley
Although I grew up on a sod farm, I was far more interested in cacti, succulents, and other resilient, climate-adapted plants. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture and have spent more than 20 years working in public gardens. My background includes caring for the Cactus Garden, Agave Garden, and Tropical Deciduous Forest at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, followed by a leadership role at Boyce Thompson Arboretum where I managed all gardeners and living plant collections. I’ve also worked at the Portland Japanese Garden, where I developed a strong appreciation for precision, intentional design, and long-term garden care.
I was introduced to the Cactus and Succulent Society of America through the Tucson Cactus & Succulent Society in 2014, which is where I first became involved with organized cactus and succulent communities. I now live in the Boulder area and am the Founder of the Front Range FireWise Botanical Garden Initiative, a project focused on fire-resilient, climate-adapted landscapes, public education, and applied horticulture for the Front Range.
